My most recent work has brought me to every rural health units (RHUs) in Batangas, and most of those RHUs are found inside the municipal hall compound and most of them are located in the town proper. In every town proper, there is a parish church near the municipal hall. I was able to take photos of some of these churches in Batangas. Batangas has now become famous pilgrimage and many pilgrims are coming to the province.

Basilica of St. Martin of Tours, Taal

Minor Basilica of St. Martin of Tours was established in 1572 by the Augustinians in Taal, Batangas. The Basilica is under the Archdiocese of Lipa. It is the largest church in the Philippines and in Asia. It is one of the most magnificent churches I’ve ever seen due to its intricate architecture design and its size.

Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Caysasay, Taal

The church was built in 1639 by Fr. Alonso Rodriguez in Barrio Caysasay, Taal. It was dedicated to the Immaculate Conception. Don’t fooled by its simple facade, because it’s altar is as gorgeous as other churches I have seen.

St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, Sta. Teresita

Established in 1943 that was once a part of Taal, but now is the municipality of Sta. Teresita. The church was dedicated to St. Therese of the Child Jesus. The church looks more of modern style.

Invencion de la Sta. Cruz Church, Alitagtag

The Alitagtag Parish Church was relatively new as it was only rebuilt in 2009 as the old church’s foundation was already weak. The newly built church looks grand and it doesn’t look like it was just built in the late 2000’s.

San Roque Parish Church, Lemery

The church was established in 1866 after Lemery became independent from Taal. The church has a low roofing unlike the conventional churches with very high roof and ceiling.

Sto. Niño Chapel, Monte Maria, Batangas City

Sto. Niño is a separate chapel from Monte Maria where special masses are held. It has a nice altar with fabulous design and a solemn place to pray.

Monte Maria, Batangas City

Monte Maria is an International Pilgrimage Center in Batangas City situated on top of a hill. The chapel is located at the base of the statue of Monte Maria. The statue is currently under construction, but you can still visit the site, except for the other levels of Monte Maria.
