After enjoying the float parade of Panagbenga Festival, we immediately tried to exit Baguio City and head straight to Tayug, Pangasinan for the Sunflower Maze. It was farther than expected. We thought, we’ll only be needing 3 to 4 hours of travel to reach the sunflower maze. But no, we arrived there at around 7pm and the maze was already closed.

There were no lights because the maze is in the middle of fields and there are no readily available electricity to provide lighting for the maze. Be sure to come there early. The entrance fee is P100 to tour around the 23-hectare farm. The Sunflowers have very short lifespan, so be sure to check their Facebook page every now and then to get an update on the availability of the sunflowers.

The Sunflower Maze is owned and operated by Allied Botanical Corporation (ABC), the only 100% Filipino owned seed company with a Research and Development program. Allied Botanical Corporation is the leading supplier, producer and breeder of vegetable seeds in the Philippines. We were lucky to be allowed by the president of ABC himself, Mr. Michael Caballes, to tour around the maze even if it’s already closed. He even toured and took photos of us around the farm. We’re very grateful for his hospitality and entertaining us while in tour.

Aside from sunflowers and other species of flowers that can be seen in the garden, ABC also showcases some vegetables grown in their farm. It is very pleasant to be one with nature once in a while and must-see because the type of sunflowers change depending on the season.

Please be mindful of the plants not to step on or destroy them so other visitors may enjoy their beauty too.
